The 70th Anniversary of Victory in the 'Great Patriotic War'

On Friday, May 8, the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Russian victory in the 'Great Patriotic War', the Consulate General of the Russian Federation hosted a reception in honour of war veterans.

Present at the official reception were the heads of the Consulates General of the Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Belarus. His Eminence Irénée, Archbishop of Ottawa and Canada was among the honoured guests. Also present was Fr Vasily Tsaritsyn of Sts Peter and Paul in Montreal.

Archbishop Irénée stressed the importance of this sacred day, not only for Russia but for the entire world community, and discussed the development of further cooperation in a friendly conversation with the Consul General of the Russian Federation, Mr Yuri Vartanovich Bedzhanyanom.
