Manitoba and Saskatchewan Deanery Meeting

August 2, 2014

For the August Long weekend, the clergy of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan deanery met in Yorkton at the parish of St. Mark the Evangelist. The primary goal of the meeting was to simply talk about the challenges and successes of parish life, as well as talk about Archdiocesan life and events.

Much was talked about concerning the upcoming Assembly and the clergy synaxis, the financial challenges facing the Archdiocese, and the challenges in meeting the needs of this deanery's many rural parishes.

Considerations for the 100th Anniversary of the Archdiocese (in 2016) were also talked about, with the goal of researching the incredible history of our deanery, as well as continuing research into the life of our blessed intercessor Archbishop Arseny (+1946). May the Lord bless this work.

Considering the size of our deanery (being the size of Ukraine, as was noted) and the distance many had to travel (on average 4hrs) many clergy and faithful were able to meet. It is the aim to meet again in the late fall.
