Montréal Series Explores the Holy and Great Council and Its Documents

September 24, 2016 to May 7, 2017

After more than a millennium since the last Ecumenical Council, and 50 years of planning, 2016 was marked by an historic ecclesial event with the gathering in council of the Primates of most of the local autocephalous (self-governed) Orthodox Churches in Chania, Crete.

This council and the documents it produced are the subject of a special series of adult education presentations at The Sign of the Theotokos Orthodox Church between September 2016 and May 2017.

The series commenced on Saturday 24 September with a workshop and overview of the council by Dr Paul Ladouceur, lecturer at the Orthodox School of Theology at Trinity College, Toronto and with the Faculté de théologie et de sciences religieuses, Université Laval.

The next talk will be by the Very Rev Dr Cyprian Hutcheon on Sunday 20 November, on the conciliar document "Relations of the Orthodox Church with the Rest of the Christian World".

All are welcome to these talks. For more information please visit the parish website www.signorthodoxchurch.ca.
