St. Barnabas Mission Completes Holy Transfiguration Chapel

After a long spell of hard work, Holy Apostle Barnabas Mission in Comox has completed the construction of their Chapel of the Holy Transfiguration. Pictures of the interior of the completed structure can be seen on the Holy Apostle Barnabas Mission website |
PORT ARTHUR MOTHER OF GOD ICON

On October 18, 2006 the Port-Arthur Mother of God icon arrived to Canada!!! The icon came from Russia through Alaska to Seattle (USA). Father Michael Fourik and Matushka Elena successfully delivered the icon from Seattle to Vancouver (Canada). In the presence of a big quantity of the believers from different parishes moleben took place at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Sobor with the reading of Akaphist to the Port-Arthur Mother of God icon. Clerics from Russia accompanying the icon are on Alaska and expect the Canadian visa. On October, 19th the icon has directed to the All Saints Of North America Monastery (Dewdney, BC) |

Agreement Signed Between the St. Arseny Institute and the University of Winnipeg Library

On October 5, the day after the commemoration of the repose of St. Arseny, an agreement was signed between the St. Arseny Institute and the University of Winnipeg Library. This agreement is a complement to the Affiliation Agreement signed on August 31st with the Faculty of Theology, University of Winnipeg.

On Thursday, August 31, 2006, His Grace Bishop Seraphim (Archdiocese of Canada, OCA) and Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President of the University of Winnipeg signed an agreement for affiliation of the St. Arseny Institute with the Faculty of Theology at the University.

Our beloved Vladyka celebrated his 60th birthday on January 24-25 and given that it was a rather special occasion, a special celebration was held.

The Igumen John (Scratch) 64, a Member of the Monastic Community of St. Silouan, former Dean of the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Ottawa, Ontario, and in retirement Attached to the Bishop's Chapel of St Silouan, fell asleep in the Lord, in his home in the early morning of Jan. 15 2006.
