Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Fr Ivan Symchyna led a group of parishioners from Christ the Saviour Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Toronto on a pilgrimage to Québec, including to Rawdon for a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, and to Québec City to visit with Fr Nicolas Svetlovsky and the parishioners of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.

Holy Apostles Orthodox Mission in Chilliwack is honoured to receive a portion of the sacred relics of the Holy Apostle James, the "Brother of the Lord," (son of Joseph the Betrothed), and first Bishop of Jerusalem. These relics are being given as a gift from Archbishop Lazar and the All Saints of North America Monastery in Dewdney, BC, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Irénée. All are welcome to join us as we receive the holy relics at Great Vespers, 6pm, Saturday 19 October. A tea reception will follow the service.

His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, and members of the Archdiocesan Council met in Rawdon on October 8th and 9th.

This was the first time meeting in Rawdon for some of the council members, and everyone declared it had been a successful meeting at an outstanding location. The weather was picture perfect!

Ten years ago today, the Archdiocese of Canada was blessed with the consecration of our beloved Archbishop Irénée. His leadership, guidance and love have been a strength to keep us focused on Christ.

God grant him many years!

Ten bishops participated in the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Irénée [Rochon] as Bishop of Quebec City and Auxiliary to His Eminence, Archbishop Seraphim of Ottawa and Canada, at Annunciation Cathedral here on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

On the old style Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with the temporary administrator for the Moscow Patriarchate's parishes in North America, His Grace Bishop Matthew, at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin in Niska, Alberta.

Fr Nicolas Svetlovsky of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Québec baptized the catechumen Raphael in Rawdon on Saturday, September 14. Assisting and singing at the service was His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, along with Deacon Denis Letunouski, his matushka and children, along with a small group of parishioners from Holy Trinity. It was a joyous occasion for all!

St Aidan’s Orthodox church in Cranbrook has been presented with a new altar, meticulously carved from wood over a three-month period by Brother Moses from the Holy Transfiguration Hermitage in Lone Butte, BC.

Brother Moses was joined by Father Samuel on the long drive to Cranbrook to present Father Andrew Applegate and Fr Deacan Paul Bartlett of St Aidan’s with the holy table.

St Aidan’s held a service of thanksgiving on Monday, August 26 to celebrate the dedication, led by the monks in the earliest known modes of Gregorian chant.

Holy Trinity Cathedral in Winnipeg had the recent blessing of two visits from their Archbishop, His Eminence Irénée.

Vladyka served Hierarchical Liturgies for the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God (New Calendar) on August 15th, and for the Forefeast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Old Calendar) on August 18th. 

Holy Trinity presently offers regular services according to each calendar - English services on the new (revised Julian), and Slavonic/English services on the old.
