On 11 June, the Sunday of All Saints, Priest Gregory Scratch, Dean of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, had the honour of serving at the Parish of Meadow Lake for their Xhram (Altar feast). The parish of All Saints was received into the Archdiocese of Canada in 2008 and has since been served by clergy from Edmonton, Saskatoon and recently Smokey Lake Alberta In those nine years a combination of new members, and the dedication of its long time members has blossomed with weekly reader services and bible studies.

His Grace, Bishop Ilia, presiding bishop of the Albanian Orthodox Archdiocese of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, visited Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Mission in Toronto, on Sunday 18 June.

Bishop Ilia sits on the Episcopal Assemblies in both the United States and Canada, and he was in Toronto for the annual meeting of Canadian bishops hosted by His Eminence, Metropolian-Archbishop Sotirios on Thursday 15 June.

On Sunday June 11, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée celebrated Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church in Desjarlais, Alberta, on the occasion of the 100th year anniversary of the founding of the parish.

Concelebrating with the Archbishop were the rector of St. Nicholas. Fr. Tikhon Bishop, Archimandrite Gerasim Power, Fr. Nikolai Nikolaev, Fr. Daniel Friesen, Fr. Evgeny Prokhin, Protodeacon Jesse Isaac, Deacon Nicolas Svetlovsky, and Deacon Kolin Berglund.

The Divine Liturgy for the Pentecost was celebrated with a visiting priest, Fr Vasily Tsaritsyn, at Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Sobor in Montreal. Fr Anatoly Melnyk and Fr Gleb Melnyk also served in liturgy this day.

This past weekend the Archdiocesan parishes of Winnipeg were blessed to be visited by Archbishop Irénée and Father Deacon Nicolas Svetlovsky, for the Altar feast of Holy Trinity Sobor and the 50th wedding anniversary of the Archpriest Robert Stephen and Matushka Dianne Kennaugh. It also marked his first official visit to the Christ the Saviour Mission Station in Winkler, Manitoba (1 1/2 hour drive south of Winnipeg).

The Governing Board of the Canadian Council of Churches (CCC) which meets twice annually, recently concluded its spring meeting (May 24-26) in Ottawa.

Representing the OCA Archdiocese of Canada was Archpriest Cyprian Hutcheon of Saskatoon. Also in attendance, ex-officio, was Richard Schneider, an OCA layman from Toronto, who currently chairs the CCC's Faith and Witness Commission.

On the Seventh Sunday of Pascha, the Afterfeast of Ascension and Feast of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée and Deacon Nicolas Svetlovsky visited the parish of St Gregory of Nyssa in Kingston, Ontario.

During the Divine Liturgy, Fr Andrew Anderson was elevated to Archpriest by Vladyka Irénée.

Fr Stelian Liabotis and his family brought the holy fire from Annunciation to the Theotokos, Ottawa. Fr. Vasyl Kolega and Dn Ivan Symchyna from Christ the Saviour in Toronto were also present and concelebrated with Archbishop Irénée.

There is only one week left to get tickets for the Tenth Annual Orthodox Christian Chinese Missions Fundraising Dinner to be held in Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday June 11.

The event begins with an Akathist Service at 5pm at All Saints of North America church, and continues with a Chinese Dinner at 6pm at Iron Chef Chinese Restaurant. Tickets are $50 per person or $100 per family (two adults, plus children under 12). Tables of 10 can be purchased for $500.
